Does anyone know how to or is it possible to apply a texture to just one side of an object?

Turn on Select Texture in the editor. This will allow you to select one face at a time (or multiple faces by shift-clicking).
Alternatively, you can also drag a texture directly from your inventory onto a surface for fast application.

Yes. It is possible. Use the "select texture" radio button in the building menu, then click on the side you want to change (then use shift+click to add more and change all chosen at the same time) Then, using the "texture" tab, change the texture.
Hope that is clear.

Separate settings for each side?

Ok, dragging a texture onto the side of a prim is simple. But, if you are using multiple textures on a prim, is there any way to assign each separate side with different horizontal/vertical/rotation/repeats/offset settings?

Blaze, using the Select Texture radial button as described above will allow you to change those settings for each face of the prim independantly.

From: Maximillion Grant Blaze, using the Select Texture radial button as described above will allow you to change those settings for each face of the prim independantly. Here's what I experience when attempting this selective texturing: (wondering if my Mac SL client has a reduced functionality here.) 1. select prim in edit mode. 2. clik on texture tab highlighting all sides of prim 3. click on side I wish to texture (at this point, all sides are deselected with this action) 4. press shift and click ( all sides become selected again)

Does the mac client not have a "select texture" radio button?? I press mine after I start editing. Then click on target face where I would see a circle mark on the selected texture only. Only then do I open the texture tab and alter the settings for that face only. My windows one won't let me unselect "select texture" radio button so I exit edit if I want to edit any other aspects.

Thanks for the knowledge upgrade. The radio button was the key. Never used that. thanks again.
