20m x 20m..... what to do?

So.... I've got a 20m x 20m space on my land that I'm not sure what to do with.

Sure, I could extend the pond, put some flowers out, and it would just look pretty - but attract no visitors.

Just wondering if anyone has any bright ideas that I might be able to use as the basis of an idea. I'm not looking for specifics - the design and layout I can probably figure out, but I'm just completely stumped for inspiration right now. At the moment it's just a brick square with a flat roof on it.

I had thought of a laserquest arena - if I can find someone who sells a laserquest pack I can use - although there do seem to be several in game already.

Although I don't know what I do want, I know what I don't want:

- Camping chairs or dance pads, anything that attracts zombies
- Anything that wouldn't pass on PG land
- I do not wish to rent or sell the land
- Anything that just "looks nice", I want it to actually be used for something.

But apart from that, I'm open to suggestions.

Is there anything you've thought about doing but don't have the land or time to use on it?

I can't promise much in the way of reward - if anything - but any starters gratefully received.

Lewis

Sure wish someone would make like a Music URL kiosk. I keep adding to a notecard addresses of music from Winamp for my land, but I have horrible organizational skills.

Love to be able to fly somewhere and click a wall or object that contained different genres of music and their addresses. Maybe listings of SL related stations, disc jockey services, etc.

Figuring out where to get music seems to be one of First Landers questions I've noticed.

If this exists already I could use a landmark...and no, I don't want to buy a tuner...lol.

I make a "Holodeck" that would fit. Complete, it takes 79 prims.

51 of those prims are used by the control panel which displays 135 pictures at once, as thumbnails. The thumbnails are "double clickable" buttons. (Click a pic twice, to display it.)

My invention gets 3 buttons per prim. ;-)

You can replace my pictures with your own and even use your TV's parcel media texture as one of them, and watch TV in the "Holodeck".

IM Easy Wheeling if you're interested.

moved from Event Discussion to Building where this fits better and will possibly garner better replies due to a more fitting readership.

Possible idea - Cave
02-27-2006 08:03
From: Lewis Nerd
Just wondering if anyone has any bright ideas that I might be able to use as the basis of an idea.

I was exploring the other day and found a great cave - had a waterfall, viewing area..things like that. When I looked at it from the outside, the builder made a box and put the cave into it - cool trick :)

The builder created the cave effect by having people teleport directly into the cave as opposed to walking into it which basicailly provides a lot of options in terms of "keeping up appearances" with respect to the look and feel of an actual cave.

The place I saw was big, but 20x20 would be great especially if you go vertical.

This could be big draw since people would come to explore and updates could keep them coming back :)

Good luck

Put several musical instruments available in SL (steel drums, marimbas, and the like) and encourage people to gather together to play them. I recently bought some, and two or more playing together really adds a neat ambience.

Do the Great Flood with physics. Click and watch the prim buildings and prim heathens getting washed away. I'd love to get a photo of that in action. You could do efigies of famous SLers as the heathens (Bushels of Peaches Guy, Plastic Duck, Stanklebury, Weber). Sell Tshirts with "My sins were washed clean in the Great SL Flood Waters!" You could work in the type of wave that surfers in SL have used and offer tube or ark rides on it when the flood hits.

My buddy is always asking about a spot to go and meditate. His favorite spot got deleted. Maybe a fewmeditation anims and some spacey music, calming visuals, and Zen texts.

There is a great Japanese house in Deltote with a large waterfall and teahouse and garden out back. Good music and meditation pillows also. Check it out.

What about a minature golf course? Would take a bit of coding to get it to work right, but I have seen similar things in world, like the functional billards table.

A prim mine, where people can dig for prims! They can buy a pick for L$1 (with a "dig" animation and code to occasionally rez a Standard Cube or Sphere). If they find a rare twisted truncated torus they win a kewpie doll!
