Hollow and textures.

I want to make a hollow cylinder that is hollow only from one side (I guess like an open on top barrel). Can it be done with a single prim? Or do I need to make it hollow and then put a 2nd prim as the bottom.

In addition is there a way to add different textures to each side of a prim? Or I need to make the object multi prims.

cant be done with unless its a sclpty..

and each surface can only have one texture, so a cylinder's outside is all one if its one prim

You can make a barrel from a single prim with these settings:

you can add textures to different sides of a prim but only one per side, look at the picture in the post above and you will see a marker in the edit window called select texture, fourth down on the top left hand side, you can use this to select only one side of a prim or multiple at once using the shift button and clicking on each.

looking at the object 2k has made for you i'd say you have 3 sides there. one around the outside, one on the inside where the hollow is and another for the bottom. there might also be one at the lip but i can't tell from that picture and am not inworld to try it for myself

Yep, there's a nice flat rim on it. So four sides to twiddle with.
