Hi,

I'm building an underwater structure and have water rendering turned off under the client menu to make it easier to work, but when i go below a certain height it still "gets dark" like i'm underwater making it difficult to get details right.

Is there any way around this? Another option i can turn off maybe? I've had a look through but don't want to randomly click things not knowing what might happen, lol

Any help appreciated! :)

not sure if this will help but have you tried to force noon?

under the world menu you can force the time of day.

you could always make a prim and max out it's bright setting so it gives off light too.

just some guesses.

Yeah i just tried putting a few prim "lights" down there, helps a bit.. i've now got 30 prims with light radius set to max etc and at least it's workable now, lol

Thanks for the suggestions :)

no worries. glad one of them worked. :)

forcing noon didn't work?

hmmm....another suggestion off the light prims. make a big flat prim as your ceiling and set the brightness to max on that. when you're done delete the ceiling. would save you from having to delete or take up 30 little prims.

i find it best to work with noon forced anyway, it's wierd really because it only gets murky/dark below 8m, even though the actual water is about 15m when it's visible.

thanks again for the suggestions, it's quite a large area 30mx30mx20m roughly so still need a few lights and but i've linked them in groups to make cleaning up easier :)

Why not just set all the prims your working with to full bright until you finish the project?

Full bright didn't really help much, i had to actually use light option, but yes if full bright had worked that would have been a lot easier :)

Almost finished now thankfully, but still kinda intrigued to find out if there's a setting somewhere that just disables the murkiness, like the option not to render the water etc, i doubt this will be the last time I build something like this :)

Yes, there is, and if nobody has answered this by morning I'll post it... laptop with no SL client, or I'd post it now. Its in the same general area as turning off water rendering, but not quite the same spot.

Turn off fog. :)

It's under Rendering in the Client menu, and I think the shortcut is ctrl-alt-6. (Might be ctrl-alt-F6 in the newer client.)

P.S. I live underwater myself, and would love to see your build when you're done. :)
