Hi, I'm Maxx Monde. I make large things. One of the behaviors that I rely on to do this is knowing which of the 1,000+ prims I'm working on is selected or not. This is also a feature that has been fairly consistent between updates - that is - being able to select multiple prims and see their yellow (or blue if it is part of a linked set) outlines when selected as a set.
This is no longer working reliably.
I will select a large set, say, 1,000 prims, and some will highlight and some won't. I usually have other tricks where I wait for the sim to catch up, and I am *reasonably* sure that it will update them if I move them around or take them to inventory, but that is just one aspect of building that relies on the highlighting working properly.
On single prims, no problem there, but as the linked/unlinked number of prims increases within the selection, this behavior becomes more sporadic to the point where I'm just doing a "Hail Mary" to edit them at all.
I won't even get into the linked sets disappearing bug, which I've run into and is frustrating if you don't know what is going on, as other threads have already started to discuss this.
If you say "Well, you are selecting too many!" keep in mind that the highlighting WORKED on some of my more intensive structures, without fail, prior to 1.6.3(x). I just want the build tool behavior to remain consistent, please.
Lindens? Builders? Anyone?

Lindens? Builders? Anyone? I had this last night... the disappearing bug.... I had it with the 1.6.2 also.... what I ended up having to do was logout to see my build again but last night it only was invisible. for 20 sec. then it keep doing it over and over so I just stopped building for hope it will be better today. As for linking I didn’t do any last night…hope you can link soon…good luck.

I was able to link small sub-assemblies and some larger parts without a problem, but I have run into the disappear bug on some of the facade detail that I was working on. It really drove me nuts until I quit building, then came back the next day and saw the 'texture flash' or 'z-flutter' that two objects were overlapping. That is, once I took it out again from inventory. I tend not to link a lot, but even without it, I'd really like the highlighting to just work the same way it did. It is making building the things I like harder than it needs to be. I can only hope someone reads this that can do something about it.

Yep, i have noticed it aswell. It makes me select, deselect, select, etc .. over and over because i'm constantly thinking that i haven't select something or that i have forget to link a prim.

I know this will sound silly but it's always good to send a bug report on anything like this ...just so lindens know whats up and can fix it.

Maxx - You know it's because your prims are so shiney that the highlights won't show I actually noticed the same behaviour last night when trying to select several linked sections for a total of 600+ prims. I haven't been inworld much as of 1.6 but this was the first time I had encountered highlighting issues as well. I will send in a bug report tonight as I thought perhaps it was a new "feature" I wasn't up to date with since recent updates.
