Sculpty requirements

Hi all. I've been using a 31x31 grid that I found in DanielFox's tutorial but need a grid that is half as wide and twice as long. I've tried cutting that one in half, repositioning, etc, but when I bend it into a circle it makes a serious mess, filling in the 'center' of the circle. So I was wondering what the requirements are for a sulcpty and how one goes about making the basic form? Is it possible to make something resembling a 60x30 grid or does SL's sculpty requirements rule out such at thing?

Sculpties are always rendered with 32x32 vertices in the SL viewer, regardless of how many vertices you use in your 3D modeling software.
Obviously you get the most accurate results with 32x32 vertices.

BTW, you should add what software you use to the problem description, that way you'll get better answers from the right people ;)

Well...if you just need it proportionally longer, then stretch the individual faces to give it the shape you want. A sculpty is always going to have the same # of vertices in SL, which is their main downfall (The reason they can't be super-detailed, and the reason that they can't be some shapes)

Sounds like you're using Wings3d, considering that's the only one I remember Daniel making a grid for, but I could be wrong.

If it's Wings, do what you have to to get the shape that you want, and then scale it to the bounding box proportionally, so that if you set it to equal sizes in-world (4x4x4 for instance) it would keep the right proportions that you want. If you just want to make it for texturing purposes well.. then ya can't do it quite so easily, but if you use the texturing grid (Can't remember where at this point..but it's around) then you can texture any shape relatively easy.

If you can tell what you're trying to do, and comnfirm if it's Wings or not, then I, and others, could help a bit more accurately.
