I am relitvly new to building, and I'm having a problem getting a to open from the side instead of the middle. I understand that it rotates on it's axis, so I tryed making a makeshift hinge on one side and put the script in that, but it still rotates the entire door. Please if anyone could help i would be most gratefull.

You can't change the pivot point; it's always the center, so what you need to do is make the center into an edge. Do this by cutting the door in half. On the editor, click More, and then go to the object tab. Set the path cut to begin at .375 and end at .875. Now you've got half a cube instead of a whole cube, which means the center line is now an edge line. The door will appear to rotate around the new edge.

Link the door to the hinge so the hinge is the last (yellow highlited) prim linked in the object.
