Hi,
I am getting an error message when I try to export two grouped objects using the Maya exporter. Here is what I did:
I created a hierarchy of objects in Maya to make a new sculptie.
I grouped the objects I wanted to use for my sculptie using the Hypergraph hierarchy window and grouped them (2 objects).
I tried to export using the Maya exporter and got the following error message:
Object list must contain a surface and a texture
The objects I selected are two curves joined using a loft. I also needed a bottom, so I created a planar surface using one of the curves - I am trying to join the top and bottom (picture an open tube - I am trying to close off one end).
I am just learing Maya and I think my mistake has to do with using a planar surface, but I am not really sure.
Any advice?
Thanks -2fast

Unfortunatley a model for a sculptie in a 3d-app can only have one surface, even with several objects linked together. Maybe I overlooked, but I haven't seen a good method for combining several objects/surfaces into one.
So basically you only use a sphere or closed cylinder to do the modelling with and move vertices to make your shape. I know it sucks, but as far as I know this is the only way to create sculpties.

Looks like you are right - the sculptie must be only one surface. This is another opportunity to rethink my approach - I really want to make this shape work Thanks -2fast
