Edges goofed on prim water

I was really hoping I could figure this out on my own but I haven't had much success. I'm trying to create a waterfall that flows into a small lake, using prims.

For the waterfall I'm using 1 layer with the library texture and library animate smooth script. All edges and the bottom have a "totally clear" texture to hide them. When it hits the ground and flows as a small river I added a second prim layer of "sand" underneath and then once it hits the lake is where I'm getting stuck.

I'm using 2 rows of flat prims, all have the the same texture and script speed. The problem is the edges that touch are all darker, as if there is overlap, but there is not. I've tried a number of suggestions to minimize it but it still looks much too fake too me. With the actual waterfall I was able to hide this using rocks and mist. But unfortunately not really an option for the lake.

I'm ready to move on and buy some sculpted water, but I'd really like to know what I'm doing wrong for future reference.

Appreciate any advise.

I have that happen too (I'm building something very similiar). I'm using Water ripple 1 layer and since it has some transparency that is helping a bit. I was thinking of maybe using different speeds in the texture animation or different rotations in the texture to make it look like the water is adjusting to bottom surface changes below. Work with the seams rather than try to eliminate them.

But it occurs to me: I wonder if using a mega prim would work? Texture and animate the 20x20x.5 square (mega prims free on slexchange).
