Two questions actually. They are kind of related. I was asked these and I really don't know the answers.
#1. Why are flexi prim automatically made phantom?
#2. Why, when a phantom prim is liked to other prim does every prim that is linked become phantom?
Well 3 questions. LOL
In both cases is it something that is a necessity?

1. Because flex is a client-side effect; the server has no idea what direction a flexi prim may be flopping at any given moment (in fact it might be slightly different for each observer too) so it's impossible to track when an avatar or a physical object might be walking on one or bumping up against one. So yeah, it's a necessity.
2. Not sure of the technical reasons, but I imagine it has to do with simplifying collision calculations for the server - you can either walk on/bump up against an object or not, makes more sense than figuring out which parts of an object behave which way. Not sure how best to define "necessity" for this one, but there's no reliable way around it that I know of.

Thank you for your clear explanations I knew there had to be a logical reason for each case.
