Building a house is, at the basic level, no different from building anything else.
Have you gone through the Ivory Tower Library of Primitives? (It should be listed in Find.) It's a tutorial on building, and it's quite thorough, complete with examples of what the building tools do, and sample projects. It took me a few days to get through, in fact. I recommend going through that, saving the notecards for later reference, and practicing/playing around in a sandbox. If you have specific questions, of course, the Building forum here is great. That help? ![]() _____________________

By a not to complicated prefab and make it into pices (unlink) and learn how a prefab builder think and do... You dont get an instruction manual but you can learn a lot that way..
You have also payed for the prefab so your mind are white as before.-)) My first house took 4 months to build.. as I learned at same time.. and it was an easy one. . http://www.taschen.com/ - publish a lot of books about houses.. Go to a book store and have a look.. and do some own drawings.. the x y z must be some diff to fit our SL avas but you will learn fast.. AND! Use easy figures... it helps a lot... dont use prims that are 9,458 or 7,148 use prims that are set to 7,5 or 9,5 .. easier to count easier to fit to the next ones.. Good Luck! - - /Tina _____________________

I have a prefab store that I sell stuff I've built, HOWEVER, for learning purposes, there are plenty of free buildings out there if you know where to look. I would recommend that if you're wanting to look at the building to dissect it to learn how to build your own, that you go this route. Just do a find in game and type in "free buildings" or at least just "free." Somewhere you should find one that you can take a look at. Sometimes people won't tell you what permissions are set for a building, so it would be a pain in the butt for you if you bought one and found out that you couldn't modify it to dissect it later.
Also do a find for "sandbox", and you'll see locations you can go to build freely, and those places let you build as large of things as you want. That's the best place to practice your skills. ![]() E |

How to Build a House

!. Muck around with building things in general.
2. Get an idea. 3. Start building. 4. End up accidentally wearing part of your house on your head. 5. Learn camera controls. 6. Have trouble lining things up. 7. Review camera controls. 8. Take ASL classes. 9. Revisit Ivory Tower. 10. Start over, much inspired. 11. Real Life interferes. 12. Everything looks like crap. 13. Start over. 14. Obtain Freebie textures. 15. Purchase expensive textures. 16. Learn GIMP, pay 450L to upload. 17. Learn to apply textures. 18. Everything looks like crap. 19. Vist Robin Sojourner's texture tutorials. 20. Reinspired, start over. 21. Carefully apply textures. 22. Near adequacy. 23. Accident in land makes returning everything to self necessary. 24. Learn to name objects and link. 25. Start over, because reassembling too daunting. 26. Again, near adequacy. 27. Accidentally remove textures from entire house. 28. Consider the "I did that on purpose" strategy. 29. For a long time. 30. Reapply textures. There are more steps, but I haven't done them yet. Renee Roundfield |

Renee has EXACT directions to building a home in SL... EXCELLENT (I am on step 87 of that pathway, it does get a bit repetitive).

I was able to skip a few of those early steps. Otherwise I am
mired somewhere in the middle. Linking is some kind of magic act. Hilarious yet true. ![]() _____________________
