So what's the advantage in making an object out of one prim? Is there an advantage? I've seen it advertised around the place, especially for bots.

From: SitScript Dunner So what's the advantage in making an object out of one prim? Is there an advantage? Oh, there is a simple reason behind that one. The more prims your stuff takes up, the more it costs you every month to keep them rezzed. So, fewer prims are better, unless the extra prims actually do something or look better. From: someone I've seen it advertised around the place, especially for bots. Bots are avatars, they shouldn't need any prims at all Some of the things advertised as "one prim" aren't really. Instead, they keep regenerating all the rest of the object temporarily, over and over, because temporary prims aren't included in the paid-for prim allowances. That "over and over" use of temporary prims is, to say the least, controversial.

I meant meeter-greeter bots. Sorry From: someone

When you say rezz, you mean loading onto each viewer's computer? Just trying to get my head around what I'm going to have to do

From: SitScript Dunner I don't understand. What keeps regenerating the rest of the object, and how does it do it? Oh, there are temp rezzing scripts around for that. The real object would be inside the one prim's inventory and created repeatedly so that it appears to be permanent. From: someone I meant meeter-greeter bots. Sorry Well those are really all script, so one prim should be all they need (unless it's one of those silly actual robots that chases visitors around the room ) (This would actually be a reasonable use for temp rezzing, the robot could appear when there is a visitor to greet, then go *poof* when no longer needed - with no fear that it will run away from home) From: someone When you say rezz, you mean loading onto each viewer's computer? Just trying to get my head around what I'm going to have to do Oh, rezzing is just when you create an object or drag it from your inventory, and it appears in the world. But depending on the kind of robot you are looking at, one prim might be the normal thing to expect.
