How do I make a flag move in the wind?

I bought a flag that sort of moves a little - a bit like it would if it was made of thin wood tho. I have made a better looking one and been experimenting with various flexible path settings but can't make it 'flap'

:(

Any suggestions?

People use scripts to make them flap.
I have not been able to find the source of any such script.
For my own flags I have decided to settle with the possibilities the flexi prim offers.

The reason they do not flap is the flexi prim is simulated in too few too large pieces plus the wind in SL does not create turbulence when hitting objects.

If you play with the various Flexi settings enough you can make a flag that flaps.

The wind in SL seems to generally very weak. I've experimented by increasing the values that set how much or little the prim is affected by wind, and decreasing (to zero or even a small negative number) the effect of gravity. This keeps the flag from drooping, and lets the wind have a much stronger efffect on it.

Sorry I can't give you exact figures, I'm unable to get in-world at the moment.

Yeah Atashi - but how do you make sure the edge attached to the pole stays attached and doesnt move?

Hmmm - Idea for a weekly competition...

I bought one from Freak Flag Park - definately the best flags in SL (as they claim) - the movement is obviously scripted and not particularly 'realistic' - but still very pleasing!

Thanks

It never occured to me that there was a problem with the flag edge staying still, mine has never moved. All I did was I linked the flag to the flag pole, once I'd figured out which edge of the flag was the edge that stayed still. I think it's the 'top' of the z axis that's the edge that stays put, so I rotated the flag 90 degrees before texturing and linking.

If you want to grab a copy I have it set as free to copy, with mod permissions so you can retexture the flag however you want. It's at Myeolchi 212,166

I also have 3 flags at my store that are fairly "flappy" if you will. The center one is a freebie.

SLURL (now that I've figured out how to do it) is in my siggy.
