I got some land for the winter expo, and I'm inviting everyone who has built a Calvin & Hobbes snowman to display it if you wish. :)

Contact me ingame and I'll give you the coordinates. :)

WOW, I thought I was on my own with the Calvin+Hobbes Snowmen.

I have some for sale at Odds+Ends in Telea (see sig). But I would be flattered to be able to display them in the expo.

What are the rules? Can they be set for sale, or give a notecard to let people know where to buy them. Or is it purely display only (np if it is, but just wanted to know).

Will contact you in world.

And maybe you guys could add a notecard explaining just how you managed to get a license from Bill Watterson to sell Calvin and Hobbes stuff? He's notoriously unwilling to license the images.

I'm aware of this, but I'm not sure you should be jumping on the Calvin & Hobbes stuff in particular - I doubt any of the people who sell anime avatars and props have licenses, or those selling avs of celebrities have permission, for instance.

Not that I sell anything in SL myself.

Though it's possible you're getting at a different issue. Watterson has a specific objection to it, but though anime avatars are just as illegal (or in a grey area, perhaps), the companies that DO own licenses would be unlikely to sue, or even to really object, as it can be free publicity (and they have bigger problems in that department, like bootleggers).

Or then there's the issue of audio sales.

Hm.

But I ramble.

If you don't call them C&H snowmen, and you don't just copy the C&H scenes... I mean there's all kinds of gruesome snowmen you could make... there shouldn't be a problem.

this is for the winter expo templar. she's not selling stuff. it's a temporary display of fan art not for profit.

If you checked my snowmen, they clearly say inspired by Calvin+Hobbes.

Yes, they are similar to drawings made in Bills Cartoon, that really is as far as it goes.

I built a snowman in my yard for my Son, it's just a normal snowman. I'm sure my Dad was buliding snowmen long before Bill was even born.

Again, I'll repeat the word 'Inspired', they're great images and very funny. I do sell mine, the most expensive is 'inspired' by his snowman and cannon picture. But it's not the same.

I do sell mine, for L$95, that works out to $0.35.

Get real, look around SL and please don't waste my energy by posting your inane remarks.

Thanks You
