Major Problem with Textures

I've got a problem with my textures and can't seem to find anyone who knows what's going on. I'm fairly new to building and have just been putzing around trying to get the hang of sizing and applying textures. A few days ago, I was playing around with the texture box in edit, just seeing what the flip boxes were about, and changing numbers in the repeat boxes to see how it affected the textures. I'm not sure what I did, but ever since then whenever I try applying a texture it goes on multiple times....like tiles almost. The flip boxes are both checked and the numbers in the repeat boxes vary from 4 - 20. It doesn't matter how many times I uncheck those dang flip boxes, or how many times I change those numbers...the next time I apply a texture it's the same thing. I've had two friends who are experienced builders try to help and neither one can figure it out. I've done a reinstall and still the same thing. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks :)

Did this object ever have a texture animation? If it had a tiling texture animation that animation will continue to run even after you delete the script. The script must stop the animation, and if you've deleted the script you must put in another script that stops the animation.

Do you have this problem with new objects you create or just the one?

Turn off "planar mapping", sounds like you hit that by mistake.

Remember about it though, it's great for texturing certain types of prims.

Yes, I recycled this post verbatim from your other thread :D

First of all lets explain the repeats boxes.

Think of a postage stamp that you want to apply to the prim. When you look at this stamp in your texture picker it appears as a whole stamp.

When you apply it to a prim you want it to appear whole so therefore regardless of prim size you must set the repeats as follows;

H:1.000
V:1.000

By checking the flip boxes will only flip the Postage stamp from left to right or right to left or from top to bottom or bottom to top.

You mentioned that your current repeats are between 4 and 20. What's happening?

Reffering back to the postage stamp, if you change the repeats as follows;

H:20.000
V4.000

You will now see the postage stamp repeated across the prim 20 times and 4 times from top to bottom.

Setting your repeats from the start to 1.000 for both Horizontal and Vertical will give you a whole picture. Anything higher repeats it. Anything lower will stretch it.

If that is not your problem and you are not using some kind of script in the prim then I would like to see what you are doing or trying posting a picture of your prim with the edit menu in the picture.

As the OP did not refer to any specific prim I am assuming this to be a cube. Using Planar would if selected double the original repeats automatically.

To get the original texture resized the same as in Default as a whole texture you would set the repeats;
H:0.100
V:0.100

The same effect would happen as in Default mode as you increase the repeats, exactly as it is called, Repeat. Decrease from the whole picture it stretches.

Planar is best used for example with tapered prims amongst other types but that in itself is a totally different subject.
