UPDATED FIRST POST

On the Northern Sim Boarder of Taber (75 , 215) is Ama's Arcade.

The Idea:
A common place where people can put their small (2m * 2m by 4m high) games. Gambling or otherwise. I could work out an arrangement for anyone that wants more space. :D

The Deal:
There are 16 Booth Pads in the arcade. Pay one of them the appropriate ammount and it's color changes, the available sign goes away and the name changes to reflect your ownership ( "So-and-so's Game Booth";). The cost on these initial 16 booths (5 left) is only $1. After those booths are full I will expand, but the booths will cost more, possibly.

Current Games:
- Jackpots: Both highroller and normal ($100 and $10 bets respecitvely). Bet to win a portion of the pot (currently over $1000 and $200 respectively).

- The Well: Win money back based on how much you bet. The more money in the pot, the more likely it is to give it away.

- Color Game: Pay the game and if 2 lights match then double your money, 3 lights and get 5x your money. Get 3 red and get 10x your money.

- Color Scratcher: $10 to play. After you pay all the tiles turn white. Click three and they will change color. If 2 match then double your money, 3 match get 5x your money.

- Money Grabber: Pay it up to $20 to have 1 coin for each dollar you pay fall from the sky. Click on a coin to win $100. Very hard, but going to get some revisions soon (bigger coins).

- Light Racer: $5 to play, the light races around the track. Click it to stop it, if it is over the red marker then you win $10.

- TCoz's Black Jack: Black Jack by TCoz's rules (no double downs, splits etc).

- Tic - tac -toe: Non gambling multiplayer. Made by Bob Brightwillow.

- Color Ring: Currently out of order. also made by Bob Brightwillow.

- Slot machine - Owned by William Wu, made with help of some lindens.

The Benefit:
A common place to play games means more people will play your game. Having several games from several people means if you feel one isn't giving you good enough odds play another. This will also encourage everyone to give good odds so people will play their games.

The Rules:
Only games can go on the pads. No voting booths, sorry. The voting booth outside is going to be my main form of income from this and I need it. :)

The game must fit on the pad. I will give a little leeway. :)

Variety is good(tm). Please for now only 1 copy of any particular game. If the game works the same, but looks different and uses a different script then it is a different game. For example 2 poker tables made by two different people is ok and good. Two identical poker tables is not so good.

If your game talks please use llWhisper instead of llSay.

Please make sure commands to your game are going to be distinct. For example "play" is a bad command, "play SLPoker" is a better one.

If you can replace any vocal cammands with other interaction that would be most awesome, but is in no way a requirement.

If you leave your booth vacant for more than a week it will revert back to available. This may change slightly in the future.

All rules are subject to change with or without notice, reason or rhyme at the whim of me, Ama Omega. :)

I dunno Ama. I was ok with no reason, but no rhyme?

Your game's no good,
perhaps you should,
drag your arse,
to a scripting clarse.

:p

Ok, ok. That was just a general disclaimer. Really I don't plan on doing anything to any games people put there unless they are too big, and possibly too obscene, although it is in a mature server so I'm not entirely sure about that either. :p

The only other rule likly to change is the cost of the booths (in the unlikely chance I sell out) and maybe rules on keeping your booth (such as you have to come by and touch the booth once per week or something).

And if you have a really large game you want there..... contact me and we may be able to work something out. Its an open air, two story arcade so there should be space.

There is now a "wishing well" type game, a black jack game (courtesy of Tcoz) and a color matching game (pay it and if the colors match you win etc).

I created another game but it was defeated by lag.

I have more ideas though so don't worry.

I have created a note card with tips and tools for making your own gambling game. It just covers the stuff for getting and giving money mostly along with a couple odds and ends, more skill is required to actually make the game. The green block (for now) at the entrance gives out this card.

To get info on putting your game down, just click an 'available' red pad. Ignore the price the card says because it is still just $1 to buy a spot.

Come check it out! :) South West Corner of Stanford. Get a landmark from me if I'm in game, you may need it cuz Hawthorn has been full for a while now.

MOVED!!

What with the war and all (:p) some of my scripts (simple touch, llDetectedLinkNumber stuff) stopped working reliably. To my understanding activity has once again died down, but I think I need a little quieter place. SO..... I'm no longer in Stanford. I'm not even in the outlands.

New Location: TABER 75 , 215

As always IM me for a landmark.

I still only have the three games previously mentioned (21, "Wishing Well" type and Matching colors).

I also have these two games already started: Racing Lights (press the button when the light is in the right spot to win) and Simon Says. Also starting work on a Memory Matching game.

Stay tuned, come visit and win some cash!

More Updates!

Two (yes two) new games!

Light Racer: Pay $5 and the light starts racing around the track. Touch the game to stop it, stop it over the red marker and win $10. It doesn't race very fast so we will have to see how long I keep this one. :P

Money Grabber: Pay $1 per coin you wish to fall from the sky, up to $20. To catch a coin simply click it before it hits the floor. This game is HARD but the payout is good - each coin you catch nets you $50 (thats a 50x payout!). I have caught coins so I know it does work.

I think we will be getting a 2 player Tic Tac Toe game in as well sometime soon.

Come on out to Taber (75,215) and give it a shot! Maybe win some money!

All games now have info stations that give out cards with difficulty level, game type, costs, prizes, odds of winning and how to play.

I have also updated the Making a Game info booth with a transcript of an Advanced Scripting Class on making a gambling game, and included one of the info booths.

Good Luck!

p.s. I will be out of town til Sunday, I hope my money doesn't run out :p. I got one or two more game ideas I will make and then keep your eyes open for an event announcement. I will hold an open house, gamble-athon with some big pot prizes and games. Probably in the next week or two.

Update: The arcade is now next to the WWIIOL Embassy. Just look for the WWIIOL Republic flag and you'll know you're close.

Yup, I'm on the sim border right by the Embassy.

Also check out the Awesome(tm) effects of the new wishing well. For best viewing get at an angle where you can see yourself next to the well, from the side. :)

MORE UPDATES!
04-21-2003 02:20
There are now NINE (9!) games to be played! Sort of.... I broke my own no duplicate rule.... but more on that in a sec.

New Games:
- A slot machine game by William Wu which I think is not yet working quite right because of the listens getting lost bug. :/ We hope to have it fixed soon though.

- A Tic-Tac-Toe game. This is our first Two player game and our first no pay game. Challenge a friend to a game of tic-tac-toe!

- Jackpot! Pay $10 for a chance to win a portion of the pot, with a 1 in 100 chance of winning the entire pot!

- High Roller Jackpot! I told you I broke my own rule. I realize for some people $10 incements may be too small, so this one is set at $100, with the possibility of being raised in the future. Odds are the same as the normal Jackpot!

I get -no- money off the Jackpot games! They are designed to give away all their money! The same is true of the Well game! I may change the chances of winning on the jackpot ones soon....

I also fixed Money Grabber, the coins were falling from too high and dieing when they hit the ceiling. I have also increased the pay out - coins still only cost $1 each, up to $20 at a time, but now for each coin you 'catch' by clicking on it, you will get $100 dollars.

I keep track of how much each machine takes and gives that I own, so expect adjustments in numbers. Right now I can tell you the most popular game is the Color Game, while the game that has given out the largest single winning is the Well.

The Arcade is expanding on a daily basis! Pads/booths are still just $1 and there are only 7 left! Have a great idea for a game but not the skill? Talk to me for some from free consulting, and a notecard on basic game making script ideas.

Are you sure the Well is working? I see it say " makes a wish" (note the space in front) and then nothing happens, and I never win anything. The malformed speech makes me think it's not detecting me in some way.

Wishing Well Works...

I won a bit last night. It will tell you if you win. (:

I noticed the well not outputting the wisher's name too, but forgot to tell Ama.

I will recheck it today. Sorry, I see the output messages so much that after the first couple of checks that they are right, I sorta gloss over them. Which means if I break them later I don't notice. :p

Thanks for the praise Philip. :) I put an open house on the Calendar for the 30th of April, so that should help. :)

Also an update (as always :) )

Added a new game! Yes, again! Another new game! Actually .. 2 new games!

1) Scratcher. Building on the success and simplicity of the color matching game I have built a scratcher game - with even better odds! You pay the $10 and all 9 squares will turn white. Click the three you want to "scratch" and if two match then get double your money. If all three match get 5 times your money. There are only 6 possible colors and the odds are very good. I am watching it closely, if I start losing too much money it may get shut down. :D

2) Bob Brightwillow (the creator of the Tic Tac Toe game) added another game! This time it is a color ring game. Pay the price and the colors change (6 sections on the ring I think). Sorry my sense of rules on this one are fuzzy, but the right combinations pay you money. :) Maybe bob will explain it better. :)

That brings the total to .....(drum roll) 11 Games!! And guess what? Not only are the 5 remaining pads still only $1 each, there is an info booth giving out a note card with tips and tools for creating your own gambling game. AND I will give free advice and consulting to ANYONE who wishes to make a game for my arcade.

I am suprised at how well this is working out. :) In case you didn't notice the first post to this thread was last Thursday.... less than a week ago. If the place fills up (very likely because I have many many many more game ideas, then I will expand, most likely up. And these pads will cost more than $1. Most likely just an even $100, and thats for a lifetime pad. So come get em while they are still $1!

More errata: I am not rich. And the arcade is not designed to make me rich. The Jackpot games and the Well games are designed to not give me any profit. That is right. They are designed to give away all the money they get. No skimming, no odds manipulation. The jackpots have gotten very little use, but if they don't give out when I think they should I will change the odds (which I can do without reseting the jackpot, don't worry). I put some starter money ($500 in HighRoller, $50+ in normal) to get the games started, that is money out of my pocket if someone get the prize. The Well is working well enough that I must keep it limited to $100 bets. :)

Game Testers
Also I am looking for game testers. If you come by and I am there then ask me if I need any testers. If I need any I will tell you which machines to test, monitor your games and reimburse you $100 that you spend. Any profit you make during that test is yours, I only check how much you pay to the machines. I will not reimburse you if you decide to test the game first then ask - that most likely won't test what I need tested.
