Group permissions for shared building task

I want to allow a group of five students to build a shared object. I have set up a group on land which I am the owner. My question is if they each create a part of a boat, can they link all the objects so that they behave as one object.

I have created a working and floating boat on my own, I just do not know whether the same thing will work if built by five other people.

Any ideas?

Interesting Idea - Thought about this too...

Useful but potentially dangerous feature there. What if someone gets kicked out, he made something but he can no longer benefit from the sell or use of and is no longer listed as partial creator.

To do this make sure all the students set their work to group, mod/copy/transfer when building. Give them a group role which allows "can modify group objects" and allow that group to build on your land.

When it comes to linking the build only one person can do it. SO if the permissions are set correctly:
*select all the pieces
*shift drag (copy) the entire build.. the one you move is the original.. the new ones that rez in the original position are now all owned by you
*delete the bits you dragged off.. now the whole build is owned by you
*link the build

Unfortunately this is the only way it can be done.. but it allows everyone to edit right up till the last moment, and ensures that everyone retains modify rights.

Hope this helps
