Hello everyone ;-0

we've designed a basic aquarium, cylindrical and im having a heck of a time linking it all together. i can link the container 4-5 prims fine - it's only got 4 fish in it - it's a free gift for promoting our new jazz club. which opens Friday btw ;-)

the issue is with the fish, using the standard fish swim script and linking the fish to a transparent ball. i'd like them to be independent and hopefully somewhat random in swiming around.

if do a link of all by select by dragging yellow box - everything swims including the tank.
then i have trouble unlinking it all and then nothing spins. it's quite frustrating - i've probably forgotten something simple. or there's some magic step that i didnt know about ;-0 - all of the items are owned by me too.

so i plan to link the rock and plant to the tank itself then slide the group of fish into the tank and then what ?

how do i link the 4 fish so they swim without spining the whole tank ?

so to clarify - round tank 4 fish and a rock and plant. each fish has it's own transparent ball and fish swim script, linking them all together is the question

thank you ;-)

Hab,

Swimming Fish

The answer to your problem depends very much on the script you're using, but judging from what you wrote you should not link the fish to the tank OR each other! I'm not sure what the transparent balls are for but you should probably link each fish to a ball and then drop the script in either the fish or (more likely) the ball. that way each fish can move independantly from the tank and each other.

Hope that helps

P.S.: If you were linking it all together because you want to give it as one object you can also simpoly select all objects and then take them into inventory at once... that way you can give it out as one object

Scritped Linking

Habbanero, you are not alone is this scenario, the solution is simple though..link everything EXCEPT the fish and transparent balls to each other then link the fish to the balls, when all that is done select the linked tank and linked fish and take it all into inventory and box it for your gift. I would recommend writing a notecard and throwing it in the box as well to let people know if they decide to move it around they must select the fish and the tank.
Hope this helps
