How to shift XYZ axis arrows on a prim?

I've seen it with doors and flags and stuff, but don't know how to do it. When you create a prim the XYZ arrows axis is in the center of the prim. How do I shift that to be on one end or another? Thanks!

There's no way to actually move the pivot point. It's always centered.

The objects you've seen that appear to have the pivot on the side are simply cut in half. Cutting is a common workaround to make doors appear to rotate on their edge instead of on their center.
