Basically, is there a limit in the size of joined objects?

I am trying to make a large room while at the sandbox. I made a 10x10x.1 cube. I copied this cube and kept the alignments with the other cubes. I could make a wall of 8 of these cubes. With those 8 linked, if I tried to attach another wall piece and it will not join.

Ok, so I'm new but I am picking it up quick. I noticed there is a parent object. It had a brighter glow of yellow to it when the joined was selected. I tried attaching another 10x10x.1 piece to it, but no. I even tried overlapping my 10x10 pieces but that didn't help. I tried selecting the pieces and linking them one at a time but that didn't give me the results I needed.

I just want to make an oversized cube (room) of approximately 60x60x20. However, it seems, right now, that I am limited to a wall size of 40x20. I haven't even tried to attach the north wall to the east wall, etc.

Is it that my pieces weren't touching? Parent Piece A was too far from Parent Piece B ? Or is there a limit on the size of attachments in one object? (that is my best guess)

While I am at the sandbox, I look up and there is a HUGE space station. lol and I only want a large room...

(I should have taken a screen shot but I am at work currently)

Answer my own ask but still need clarification

I saw this in another post and I think it answers my question.

(This is difficult because of the 30m linked prim limit.)

Since my 40x20 wall has 8 prims. The far left prim is around 30 m from the far right one. Attaching another prim to the right would be over the 30m. Does this still limit me from making it 40x40? Since one far corner would be more than 30m diagonally.

Basically, you can do it in large chunks

Hi What Ming,
There is a limit of 30m to linking objects, and so most big things are made in sections. If you want a big room, you would be likely to make it in sections.

Although there is a limit to what can be linked, there isn't the same limit for selecting objects. For this reason, it is possible to take, or move, a whole building as a single piece, if you select one section and then shift select the rest. Or (with the select only own objects choice checked) select one section, then drag the yellow box over the whole object.

Once something is placed in world, it will stay where it is put unless it has physics enabled. So you could add walls, ceilings, roofs that are not linked together, or link 30 m sections, and place those where you want them.

I love building big and would be pleased to demonstrate any of this if it helps.

Caliandris , I would love to see any large scale building you have made. The more to explore :)

I created a large room to build smaller objects in, without the obstruction of other clutter that may be around me. I painted the walls red, green, and blue to help me coordinate the directions. I was successful in building a 20x20x20 cube and it suits my needs good enough. I kinda wanted a 40x40x20 cube or even a 60x60x20 cube, but oh well, I just got greedy.

I like the suggestion and now knowing there is no limit in what can be selected. I now have the walls, floor and ceiling in my inventory. So I will just have to set up my room before I begin to build. This may work best as it will give me some warm up time before each build. The intent is to make the room then throw it in the sky, away from obstructions (crazy stuff happens at sandboxes).

I found more information on the 30m limit of objects. It is 30 m limit from the center of one primitive to the next. I thought it was edge to edge.

Sooooo much more to learn.

lol, i have created the same thing.
I have made a box that when i sit on it, it flys 400m up in the sky and rezzes my 30x30 workfloor.
And scripted some code to let it rez walls and a ceiling if i need some privacy.
