AC3D Sculptie Files - Some basic "starting" shapes?

Hi, just wondering, are there some basic shapes (to start pulling around) for AC3D I can get (someone could give me?) to experiment with?

I have a sphere, cylinder and a rounded cube (low face count versions they appear to be)

Is there a set of nice "starting" shapes I can get from somewhere?

Perhaps a flat sheet, some sharp edged items, or some higher poly count versions?

Or, can someone guide me on how to make my own from the built in starting shapes in the program?

The great thing about using a 3d modeling program for sculpties is that there are usually lots of tools for changing the basic primitive shapes.

I had fun with AC3D during the trial, I could not justify buying the program as I already had hexagon and carrara, blender, wings etc.
Learn the tools that come with the program. Start with one of the primitives and just start seeing what all the different tools do when you try to use them. Check the help section if you need to make sure you are navigating and making selections correctly.

Experiment, try all the different tools on all the different primitives.
At some point a question will arise that you really want the answer to. So much so that you will be motivated to look up the section of the help documents that contain that information. Once you have done that once, you will know how to do it the next time.
Also if you see something in the help section concerning a different but related action
that you think you know how it could be applied , go ahead and try it.
You are perfectly free to attempt things on limited information. The worst that could happen is you might have to reboot your computer. :)

Of course if it does not work, it is a good idea to go back and read the rest of that section. Don't be afraid to experiment!

It's just thatm when I tried Wings3D I know I picked a sphere, but you could only specify certain sizes 64x63 32x33 15x15 (I think)

Did not seem to same option in this prod to specify the date.
I can play, but I need a valid starting point :)

Does anyone here actually use this program or is it looked down on as it's not "expensive" enough (if you know what I mean)

Had some success and a fair bit of failure.

The official site forums are almost dead (not great when you trying to learn the basics) and there's very little on the way of tutorials and sculpties out there for it.

It's a nice program and very easy to use, it just the support seems very lacking.

Unless everyone is like me and struggling to learn the basics.

I use AC3D mainly to manipulate faces and vertices on SL-sculpts I'm already working on to give them a bit more accuracy and/or detail. I'm a bit past learning the basics but cannot affford the more expensive programs to carry my ideas further. So basically, since SL limits the amount of vertices/faces you can make a sculpt with, I think in AC3D we are limited by the basic sphere, cylynder and cube for SL thats included in its software. I find working with those shapes difficult to morph when using them from scratch.

I am sending you my starter shapes ... simple shapes, but with the right numbers of vertices for LOD-proof modelling. If anyone else wants them, I have put the box out at Tiretta <85,127,51>. Blue patterned box for sale for L$0. (I managed to put them into notecards by zipping and base64 encoding!).

Excellent, thank's for that. Won't be able to have a look at them till later tonight after work, but will let you know how I get one with re-encoding them back into files and into AC3D

By the way, does anyone know if there is (going to be) an oblong map exporter for AC3D? Oblongs are much more amenable to the one-prim animation technique discussed in another thread.

Probably not, they're slow on the uptake and the converter they made for regular sculpties is pathetic.

Also to the OP, the base prim set is included in the plugin's zip file, but be warned they're the wrong size mesh - 24x25.
