I apologize if I am posting in the wrong are. I am very new to SL but mature in RL and this is all new to me. One of the things that caught my eye in the creativity in SL. I want to learn how to build. Right now I am interested in creating a Framed Painting for hanging on a wall. I am very proficient in Photoshop and I created a framed test but I don't know how to convert it for SL. Would someone be so kind as to show or point me in the right direction.

Great forums btw.

Thank you

For info on uploading texture files, see /109/e6/150360/1.html

In Second Life, you can make a cube, minimize one dimension so it is flat and put your uploaded texture on it.

This is really a texturing question, so take a look through the archived postings in that forum for a lot of discussion on this question. The simple answer, though, is that you create your image, with any matting and (perhaps) framing in Photoshop and save it in 24 bit .tga format. To make things easy and preserve clarity in your final image, the uploaded pixel dimensions should be in powers of 2 (i.e., 64, 128, 256, 512, ..). Then, as Sylvia said, you simply grab the uploaded texture from your inventory and drop it on a flattened cube prim of appropriate dimensions. There are clever ways to make frames that involve extra prims and are very attractive, but a basic framed image can be done with one prim, as I have described it.

Sylvia and Rolig

Thank you very much. You two replys speak volumns. I think I am starting to see the big picture here. And in the future I will male sure I try to keep it the correct forum. But your advice is fantastic and like everything in life we must take small steps.

Let me see if I understand the inserting the image in a flat square. This flat square which I am familiar with I take it has all the code in it to allow the intergration of the image into the SL platform. Very interesting to say the least. You guy are great and I thank you for your help.

Best Regards
