Hi all

I am a Maya-newbie trying to overcome the Syntax error that i keep getting when trying to use the linden Maya export script (llSCULPT mel) on a simple Nurbs sphere.

The specific Syntax Error i keep getting is:

// Error: if (size($parents)*!= 0) //
// Error: Syntax error //

Much appreciate anyone who can help a non-scripter get up and running and overcome this problem. With that i am sure i will be flying with maya and SL sculties.
Thanks in advance
Stiletto Moody

(Using maya 8.5 unlimited on an Apple MAC)

it looks like the script was damaged in the copy / paste / save process.
the line should read :
if (size($parents) != 0)

so, try to create a fresh script file, or repair the old one.

Nope ...have checked that....
It was in fact only a copy error when pasted into this forum thread, infact when running the script in mel it does read as you indicated it should..any ideas what it means and where to from here?

Well, if your Script is an exact copy of the Original from Qarl Linden,
it should not trigger a Syntax Error.
Syntax Error means that the Script contains something that can not
be understood by the MEL Interpreter (or Compiler, i dont know).

I dont know what to do. Maybe try the Attached .MEL File ?

Another hint : dont use a full blown Word Processor (like Microsoft Word)
for Programs. Word Processors do to Words what Food Processors do to Food.
Example : the German Version of M$ Word would autocorrect the
first double quotes in :
listRelatives("-parent", $object_copy);
to lower double quotes. The Program would be broken.
I use SciTE for Stuff like that, but every simple Text Editor will do.

Thats it!!!
Thanks Cindy..you are a saviour.
Using your zip corrected the problem
It works by both ways as it should- by dragging into workspace, or the Button i have created on the shelf..I suspect this is the first step in a very long haul learning curve but now i am on track

Thanks so much
