Texture walls and floors quickly?

Is there a way to texture/retexture walls quicker than panel-by-panel? I've spent the past few years playing Maxis' 'The Sims' and I'm spoiled by the ease of the wallpapering script in the game -- you simply hold the Shift key and click on the surface and all the walls in a room get textured.

Is there anything like this in SL? Or at least a quicker way to retexture a room than having to do it piece by piece?

For a floor, yes, link all the pieces together (ctrl-click on each piece, press ctrl-L to link) then a texture applied to the linked set will get them all.

Unfortunately this doesn't work for walls as applying a texture to a linked set of walls will give the interior and exterior walls the same texture which probably isn't what you want.

The Sims is optimized for house building convenience, SL is not.

You can texture more than one panel at a time, without effecting all sides of the prim(s).

1) Right click one of the surfaces you wish to texture/color.

2) Select the "Select Texture" radio button in the top left of the editing controls window.

3) Press and hold your shift key, and while holding shift, left click all of the surfaces you wish to texture.

4) Select your texture and color from the Texture tab in the editing controls window.

If you click the "Select Texture" radio button, you will only cause change to the side of the prim you highlighted.

Not happy about Linden Labs purchase of XStreet (formerly SLX) and OnRez. Will this mean LL will ban resident run online shoping outlets in favor of their own?
