Me, Myself and I are building a house. I need to link the house to make a copy for inventory so I don't lose it. I can't link at the moment because 'myself' owns part of a roof. Do Myself and I need to give Me the build and how do we do that? We all belong to a group now, but part of the house was built when we were not a group. We all are taking a trip in two days and need to figure this out before we leave. We would hate to come back and find this house gone due to something beyond our control.

You can try lassoing a yellow box around the whole build and taking a copy this way. Remember to have have "Select Only My Objects" disabled in the Tools menu up top.

Also, the peices will need to be transfer for this to work..I _think_.

The other way , would be to set each individual prim for sale, and have one of me,myself or I buy them all. Remember to have the "Original" button checked under For Sale.

All parts must have the same owner to link them. Two of the three will have to link their parts together first, doing a 'select only my objects, and then sell their linksets to the third Player, doing a "sell original". The third will then own all the parts, can link it all together, and can take a copy to inventory, and then give those copies to the first two players as backups.

All parts must be full perms, of course. Make SURE the 'next owner' permissions are full perms before selling, or parts of the house won't be transferrable back to the others.

Actually, you don't. Simply select all the pieces at once, right click, and then hit either Take or Take Copy. The whole thing will come into your inventory as one object. When you drag it out again, all the pieces will be there, linked, unlinked, or any combination of the two, exactly how you had them before.

That's how it's supposed to work, anyway. The functionality was broken for a while, and I haven't tested recently to see if it's been fixed or not. Even if it is working properly, though, it can sometimes still fail if you're experiencing packet loss. So be careful. Take Copy is safer than Take, as you can check to see if you've got everything before you go ahead and delete the original.

If you want a more stable solution, there are several scripted packaging solutions that work really well. I use Rez Foo, myself. There's also Rez Faux, Builder's Buddy, and a few others. Give them a try.

None of this changes the need to have the whole thing be owned by one avatar, though. You'll still have to transfer it all to one owner. For good reason, you can't take stuff that doesn't belong to you, even if you've got mod rights on it.

Followed all instructions last night and now have the house belonging to one person and a copy in inventory. Thank you so much for all your help and suggestions.
