I'm having a terrible time lighting my build. No matter how I do it, it's just too dark. Outside on my platform is where I'll hold events, and it's not so bad out there. Inside it's deplorable -- just can't see a thing.

I would welcome tips, tricks, hints, solutions... or just plain old sympathy :)

Thanks -
Kerstin

try adding light to the above cieling using a square that is hollowed out or making a box that is hollow and light it up so that everyone stands inside this area ( because platform is below it ) this is kind of what charlie did with the castle, he made the castle light up and so it was light all around. That or maybe even little tiki torches heheh

I was having a similar problem. Have you tried hallow cones (phantom/clear) downlights? I put s few small ones in my store and it worked wonders. Mine arent clear but if you dont want them seen clear is a good option. The other thing is is your preferences set to see the local lighting? When mine was off I could add 1000 lights and it was still pitch dark. With it on, very little lighting goes a long way. We have the same processor speed, vid card & (I think?) ram. It didnt slow my performance having it on.

The Lighting is still a little buggy... if you notice.. when ever you move a light (well it does this for me) everything lights up... and then fades away.

Ya exactly the same over here Nexus. The only time I had it working properly is when I left the light on all the time and I reloged in. Then it worked.

i was told that reason we see lighting when we move objects is because moving light is actually handled by hardware but stationary lights are not. that's why you will only see light while moving a light source if u have the local lighting feature turned off.

I had a problem with that when i first started building my house, but i hollowed out the ceiling lighting that i have (and i know you've seen it jin hehe). Then i made sure i had local lighting switched on in preferences, then i restarted. Everything seemed to work fine then :)
