Hi.....I'm a klutz when it comes to making signs......especially transparencies. Running a sim it's a neccessity.
Just wanted to give a heads up to a site I found today....

www.cooltext.com

Basically, you can input the words you need for signage..... play around with fonts and colours and backgrounds, and then generate a downloadable texture to upload to SL.

Maybe a little basic for the bestter builders, but for people like me....well worth a look. :)

if you have windows and your cheap (like me) theres a free program called Draw + made by serif software, its vector based (like adobie illistrator) and works quite well for me

pros:

quick and ez to learn
biult in animation system
supports transparency
FREE

cons:

windows only
doesnt save in standard issue SVG format (uses its own)
to export transparent images you have to use png (which is fine in my book but an extra step later to convert it to TGA )
