Ctrl on the Mac is Command. Alt is Option. Shift is shift.

In the SL client all PC shortcuts are exactly the same on the Mac. So it's ctl+shift LL changed from using CTL to CMD in the menus a few updates ago, but the ctl key still works in the menus too. Most Mac users are used to holding the CTL key to simulate a right mouse click. For reasons known only to them LL decided to use the CMD ( Apple ) key to do this. So a right click is cmd+click in SL. On Mac notebooks you might need to use the FN key to access the Function keys. btw, Apple stopped using the term "option" for the alt key years ago, it's only die hard old mac heads that still refer to alt as option. Often leads to much confusion for new Mac users! Any standard USB PC mouse will work on the Mac with no driver required. I always advise new mac users to buy a good 2 button mouse with a wheel.

The key between "ctrl" and the apple/command key is labeled "option" with "alt" as another, smaller label up top. And on the Boot Camp page, they also refer to it as the option key. My guess as to why LL is using the Command key for right-click -- because you *do* control-click on items in SL at times. And that could get really confusing.

Must be a european/usa difference then ! I stand corrected other than I haven't seen the word option on a keyboard for years. Which only really adds to the confusion Only as a matter of interest, how often do people actually ctl+click to move things ? [edit] I just looked it up and it seems alt without option is a UK internationalisation. The Apple style guide says to use the word Option when aiming at Mac users and Alt when aiming at PC users. So I wonder who made the decision to dump the option label on UK keys !

Thanks for the help people - the would be builder is American, presumaly using a US keyboard, so we'll give command/shift a try.
What we are trying to do is invoke the 'tiny grey cubes' resizing gadgets to resize a large scale model of a piece of jewelry.
Thank you fror the swift response.

Thank you fror the swift response. mmm Well I hope you have fun with that while the poor person struggles to find a widget that doesn't appear. I wonder what part of "PC shortcuts are exactly the same on the Mac" wasn't understood. It makes no difference where the keyboard is localised ! I was pointing out that Chosen's comment was incorrect. Ctl on the Mac is NOT cmd! I think it was once, about a year or so ago but now the Mac shortcuts are the same as PC, except for the menus, which can be used via cmd OR ctl on the Mac. it's quite simple really - right click object, select Edit ( in the pie ) to go into edit mode. - press Ctrl+shift to activate resize widget.

Ah, thanks for that clarification Lauk! Obviously she wasn't doing exactly what I was telling her to, or, more likely I didn't instruct her properly. I do remember having a bit of trouble getting the hang of that particular technique myself when I first tried. This particular person has the makings of a very talented builder/designer judging by their quick progress and dedication, so I want to get this sorted while the enthusiasm is still there. Thank you for picking this up.

Ctl on the Mac is NOT cmd! Sorry about that. I didn't know they had changed it. In most applications, Command on the Mac does what Control does on the PC. I thought it was still that way in SL. Oops.
