Is there any way to fix the editing zoom?

When I'm building and I right click to edit, a lot of the time, the camera zooms in on section of the item that is completely useless (like I want to move it up but it zooms in tightly into someplace where I can't even see where I want to move it, or I want to strech it and it zooms into a spot where I can't see the little "strech" boxes.

Of course, if I try to move to change My angle, it drops Me out of edit.

I know I must be missing some secret control key combo or something, because this is driving Me nuts. A simple adjustment that would take a few seconds often ends up being ten to fifteen minutes because I can't get the right angle.

Any suggestions?

BTW, you guys have been more than great putting up with My questions and posts. Thanks for your generous help!

I use the camera controls(toolbar, view/camera controls). You can rotate around objects zoom in and out, go above or below. Takes some getting used to, but I like working with it. And you can still click and edit while using it. I belive in the preferences there is also a setting that allows you to disable the edit zoom, but I can't remeber offhand exactly were it is.
Anyways hopes this helps a little :)

ALT+Click* - Zooms in and out as wells as moves left and right around the object

ALT+CTRL+Click* - Moves camera up and down around the object

ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+Click* - Pans the screen

These shortcuts are also usefull for building because they also bring up things like the sizing and rotation options for the object.

These do the same thing as the camera controls that were talked about, but I find those clunky and not so "hands on".

Hope this helps, and good luck!

You can also turn off the option where your camera automaticly moves when you enter edit mode. It's in Preferences, I believe under the general tab.
