I have discovered that many of the textures I have in my inventory do not seem to be recognized/found by the texture picker when I'm trying to edit an object. I've tried things like moving them into the texture folder, double checking the perms... The only way I've been able to use them is by dragging the textures onto the objects (the texture ends up into the contents folder) -- not the most efficient way to texture an item!
I filed a bug report, but I'm wondering if I'm missing something, doing something wrong?
Help?

Do you have full permissions on the textures that are missing? If you have some textures that have limited permissions, they might not show.
Have you waited for your inventory to sort everything? Often, when first using the texture picker after login, you see few textures, or none at all, because Inventory hasn't sorted yet. Try searching for a texture, like "grass" which should eventially find one of the terrain textures way down in the Library folder. Once inventory has indexed itself, a lot fo 'missing' textures will show up.
When I am building, I usually open Inventory first and do a few searches, and make sure it's indexed my inventory before I get started. Saves a world of headaches.

I had this same problem earlier. I uninstalled SecondLife then reinstalled it and now all of my textures show up Hope this helps!

I do seem to have pertinent perms: copy & mod...
I'll try both suggestions: inventory sort first, reinstall second. Many thanks for the ideas and cross your fingers for me!

Hope it helps, vivi! I have over 9K items in my inventory, and some times it seems to take *forever* for that first sort to complete, so it will show me all my textures. It's a real pain!

*sigh*
These lovely suggestions didn't work... the texture picker still isn't recognizing bunches of textures in my inventory. Of course, at this point, I imagine it's all just one more borked aspect to SL, but any additional ideas would be most welcomed!

Hi Vivi,
The next thing I would suggest is to go into your Preferences, clear cache, and log off and nack on again.
Failing that, on Wednesday we're due to have a new client release, Do a clean install - don't use the automatic update, but instead manually download the update from the web server, and replace the old files with the new ones. That clean re-install may fix it.
Good luck!
