New Builder Questions

Just a couple questions (although I probably will have a ton more once I get deeper into building).

1) My land is set to no build, no script (this is so I can build on it but no one else can). How high up do these restrictions go? If someone builds an object above this restricted limit does it count against my land prim count?

2) I made myself a build platform with a ruled grid texture. When I build items on it I sometimes misclick and highlight part of the platform with edit and then move or rotate it before i realize I have the wrong thing clicked. Is there a way to set the platform to no-edit so I don't accidentally move it around?

lock the prims in your platform (under object tab)

The answer is it goes all the way up to infinity, but rather than turn off building altogether, I'd suggest you turn on auto-return. That way, people can rez things they might need, like say a box containing something else they want to access, but after a time, it will go right back into their inventory. If you're concerned about litter, set the timer really low, like one minute or so.

Also, you won't have to worry about someone building somethig somewhere else, and then simply leaving it on your property. It's not uncommon at all for people to park vehicles, and then forget about them. Auto-return will clean them up.

If someone else builds on your land, then yes, it goes against the land's prim count. However, again, with auto-return turned on, you really don't have to worry about it since the objects will disappear after whatever amount of time you have specified.

As Island said, simply lock the platform. If you ever need to edit it later, just unlock it. You'll find "Lock" is one of the togglable options on the Object tab in the editor window.

Thanks for the fast responses, they really helped.

I will lock my platform and make sure auto-return is on.
