Forgive me if this seems just another idiotic "newb" question, but I am, in fact, extremely new to SL. I have built a home and am interested in making a moat around it, but I don't know how to create water in SL. If anyone could please tell me how I could accomplish this I would much appreciate it.

Use the land editing tools to lower the land below water level. However, it it very likely you will not be able to lower the land far enough for this so make a ditch and place a phantom prim in it with a water texture to simulate water.

Many folks have an animated water textures that move and ripple in a pool or what not. And I think I may have one that is copy/trans so I could share with U. Will take a look.

If you do have trouble digging a trench, perhaps you could build a raised area in the center of your land, build a wall around the base, then fill the empty space between the wall and the edge of the mound with a water texture?
If you and Nyx can't manage to get together, send me an IM and I'll share my water animation with you.

The script and the water texture are already in the library section of your inventory.
The script is called "amin smooth," and the water textures are found under textures, waterfall.

the trick is to lower the ground like a ditch around your place, and then lower prims just below the raised area n the moat. The prim is onw the water. Use those scripts and textures already mentioned and set it to like 50% transparent or to taste, you have water. I have alot of rivers and waterfalls using this technique in Tavarua 64,64 or there-abouts, if you wanna see live examples of what I mean. Feel free to explore the whole 1/4 sim, Fhtagn Point. -Ghoti
