There are lots of surfboards in SL.
Try a SEARCH on 'surf' and you'll find them. I have free ones, $200L ones, and a $700L version with a really cool anim. In SL, surfing is sort of like a small, simple vehicle. You stand on the board and then move the arrow keys to move around...you always float-whether you're on water or on land. There's no interaction between the Wave objects and the surfboard object. But the effect and appearance is quite good. Which makes for an interesting time, if you surf into the middle of a dance contest that's playing Beach Boys tunes :-0 Also, there are some nice KAYAK simulations around, too! ![]() |

There is at least one commercially available product that has been in SL for about a year at least, which allows one to create waves that can actually be "ridden" in toward shore. I've seen them in use, but didn't bother trying the system myself. There was a "wave generator", which was a single phantom prim out in deep water. It would, on a chat command, create a series of prim waves that headed to shore. How you managed to "catch a wave" and ride it in, I don't know. Maybe you needed a special surfboard?

Be sure you check out the surf beach at the Weather Channel sim. Narly monster tubes bro, and they interact with the board!
Also Wave Technology sells all sorts of waves and boards in world. |
