I'm a newbie who will soon be a premium member. I have NO Idea how to build, where to begin or where you all get your great ideas from. I've been in a vzones for six years now and only know how to build piece by piece NOT in a 3-D world.

Are there classes or tuts that are more extensive than just showing us the basics of a square and how to stretch and add? I really, really want to learn.

Thank you all so much in advance for any help or leads that you can give me. Just point me towards the right url or to the right class and I'll be forever happy :-))

A good place to teach yourself is the "Ivory Tower of Primitives" - do a FIND search for the location. If you open your map, it's located about 256m SW of the SL Hand Logo (the one in the void water sim).

I've heard some of the instructions at that location are out-of-date however. Another way to learn is to hang out in a sandbox. Create a prim, then work through the edit options clicking every button to see what effect it has on the prim.

If you do a search for events in SL, you will often find building classes being held. :)

I was in DS since 1995. I only left about 6 months ago. I think we know each other. My name in DS was Karynda (and my mom who's still there...she's ModemMama). Do you know/remember me?

I don't know much about building at all, am still learning myself, but feel free to hang out with me and learn what I know (which isn't much) if you'd like. IM me in SL...my name there is Karynda Kuroda

If you want to really learn, just get to know builders, and hang out with them when they create. It's all simple really, you just need to visualise the shapes.
