Controlling LOD for regular prims?

It just plain freeks me out. If you want a hexaganal prim, you have to make one (even though the low detail cylindar IS one)

Is there something I've missed? Is there some way to specify a low LOD for a prim?

This ability would greatly increase the number of effective primatives by mearly using a flag bit.

Does this thread belong in feature suggestions?

No, you can't force LOD on any prim or group of prims.

Check the JIRA, and there are probably requests for more prim types that are other regular solids, like hexagonal or octagonal columns. But right now, the only way to do that with a single prim is to use a sculpted prim. And that has issues with the collision box not matching what you see, and it's hard to get crisp edges.

Does the detail sliders in preferences do anything to help? I have never really checked.
General tab has option sliders for Objects, Flexiprims, Trees, Avatarts and Terrrain.
