Newbie Question: Official Object Editing Manual?

Is there any sort of authoritative manual for the settings used to edit objects?

In game and on the web, I've come across various tutorials, but I haven't seen any sort of comprehensive guide to the settings. As an example of what I'm looking for, when I downloaded the Second Life client, it came with a "Linden Scripting Language Guide", that documents the Linden Scripting Language.

I could use something similar for the interfaces used in building and editing objects.
For example, I have no idea what to make of the Dimple setting when editing Spheres. I can experiment, and determine what it does that way. But I have trouble linking the behavior I get to the term "Dimple."

It would speed up the learning process quite a bit to have some straightforward documentation.

I don't know of any documentation...but then, I learned how to build just by logging on my first day and clicking buttons...soo :) :)

Really, the best way is to play with all the shapes. Even if there were documentation, it would be easier to learn the true building capabilities of each prim by playing with them.

There's that ivory tower place that walks you through the steps of building.

As for scripting, I just take apart other open-source scripts or modify existing ones to suit my needs. Check out Yardni's Junkyard for some o' those!

I cannot speak highly enough of The Ivory Tower of Primitives created by Lumiere Noir.

Lumiere is an educator in RL and has made a very complete, self-paced tutorial that both displays and describes all of the building features. It allows you to see the object in various flavors, describes how they can be used and allows you to try it right there.

This should not be missed by anyone looking to learn building.
