Unlinking and relinking to set

When I unlink a single prim to edit it, I am unable to relink it. It tells me the items are too far apart to link. Usually, the entire build becomes unlinked during this process.

I am selecting edit linked parts, and the then unlinking one specific part, to mod it, delete it, etc. I am unable to relink it, or relink the entire builiding properly.

What am I doing wrong? What should I do if I want to edit a single wall in a linked build? It is a modifiable build.

Thanks for any advice,
Princess Ivory

This usually means one or more prims in the build have become 'corrupted', and need to be replaced. Here is the fastest way to fix it.

Select half the prims in the build, and try to link them. If they link OK, the problem is in the other half. Repeat the search, half of a batch of prims at a time, until you isolate some small groups that are bad.

When you find a batch the won't link, start taking them one at a time and try adding them to a linkset. The first one that refuses to link to anything else is the culprit.

Verify that the rest of the build links OK, without that one prim. Remember, there may be more than one bad one. But a bad one won't even link to one other prim right beside it.

Drag-copy the bad prim, by selecting it and holding down shift, as you drag one of the position arrows in edit. This will leave a copy behind, and the bad prim is dragged to one side. Delete the bad prim.

The new copy of the prim is usually OK, and can now be re-linked to the build.
