There has to be an easier way to edit prims than what i'm doing...there just has to be lol.Ok so i have a pair of prim shoes but want to edit straps etc, so i put the shoe on to make straps fit to foot and then stand on poser stand so i dont move around. Now this way i can not link or unlink parts of the shoe or change xyz values without using stretch mode. So then i have to take shoe off to add any new prims to it, unlink parts etc, which involves having to constantly zoom in on the thing. On, off, on off...agggh. Is there something ridiculously simple i am missing? Oh and also everytime i add a prim to an exsisting shoe it treats it like a new object which i then have to realign on my foot everytime. There must be a way to wear the shoe, and be able to use complete edit tools. Any help will be much appreciated

Not sure if this will work... Maybe use two copies? Wear one, stand on the stand and edit the straps, etc to fit. Set the second pair on the ground and, as you change the pair on your feet, copy the numbers to the pair on the ground. You can add and link stuff on the ground pair, building up your changes til youre ready... then remove the pair you're wearing, take a copy of the pair on the ground, wear those, and continue til yer done. Worth a try anyway. -Ghoti

Usually I dont attach untill it is done, I just build it around my foot as if it were on me while i stand on a poser stand, if that makes any sense. Also the reason you have to reposition it everytime you add the new prim is because the attach is in relation to the root prim, or the last prim attached to the object, so when linking it select the new piece first, then the entire shoe and link it that way. Hope that helped some.

As Barnesworthsaid, the solution is not to attach the item until it's done. Stand on your pedestal, position the shoe where it would be if it were attached, and work on it there. I do have to take issue with one thing Barnes said though, which is why the object moves when you've edited it before re-attaching it. It's a small detail, but just for the sake of accuracy, he's half right. I'm about 90% sure it goes by the object's center of gravity, not by the center of its root, althoug sometimes things attach in such bizarre ways, it's hard to tell what's going on. I believe this was a recent change though and the way he's describing it used to be correct. Either way, it's hard to predict where something will end up. Just don't attach anything until you're sure it's done and then you won't have to worry. Oh, and do your best to avoid working on attachments during an unanounced rolling grid reboot. The exact moment LL picked to restart Indigo a couple weeks ago was about 3 seconds after I had finished modeling the attachments on my Cylon av. When I came back inworld after getting kicked, every single attachment was roughly 90 degrees to what it was supposed to be. For any old BSG fans out there, I ended up looking like that episode where they had those 2 centurians in pieces on a table and they had to rebuild them to fool Baltar. I had armor plates and nuts and bolts sticking out all over. Took me forever to fix.

Thanks for the clarification, I actually havent done attchments in awhile, I should have considered we have had a few updates since then. I am pretty sure that is the way it use to be, and im pretty sure it was changed so I would be confused if I ever tried it again. LL likes to pick on me.
