Advice about sending updates

I'm working on some enhancements to a couple of building tools I sell through SLExchange. I'd like to send the updated versions to everyone who has bought one, which is hundreds of people. After a little research, I've figured out a way to do it by using a name-to-key service and a script to offer people inventory. But...

Does anyone know if I can offer inventory from a single script hundreds of times in a row without hitting the Grey Goo fence or something worse? Also, do you think people will be surprised by this or consider it irritating? Or, is it possible there's some conventional way that people are already handling updates I should consider?

I did the same for one of my products sending the update to hundreds of residents.

I made a script with the name2key service and a loop that goest thru the entire list of costumers sending the item one resident per loop cycle. As far as I know, you need to send aprox 60-70 inventory items in less than a minute to fall in the grey goo fence; so I placed a delay of 3 seconds in each loop. That way, one hundred updates are delivered in five minutes.
Remember: Don't use llGiveinventoryList. Send the update in only one package with the llGiveInventory function.

In the future a product like HippoUpdate is well worth the money :)

Checho - It's good to hear from someone who did the same thing. Thanks for the advice.

DanielFox - The hippoUpdate looks interesting, I'll keep that in mind for the future.

Hi Cadroe,

Check with Timeless Prototype, his multi gadget has a very good updating system.
