So I been pondering this for quite some time. I'm trying to see if there's any possible way to make membraneous wings as part of the arms, as opposed to separate limbs sticking from the back. When flying, they would be spread, while terrestrial, they would be folded up against the arms. It would probably take a bit of creative scripting and primwork to be sure. Anybody got any ideas how to do this?

Well, one method would be to have the wings go invisible (100% alpha) when not flying. Then when flying, us an animation override to exatend the arms out and have the wings become visible.

This is a bit limited in that you won't see folded wigs hanging from the arms when not flying, but other than that it would work just fine.

It works very effectively. My angel AV has wings on it's arms, the most fiddly part was getting them placed correctly. They're built from several sections to get the jointing to work well when flying. I made several animations for the various flying states, flying, flying slow, hovering, hovering up and down. I didn't make them fold as I like them as they are when I'm standing but as mentioned, with some clever texturing and scripting folding wings could be created effectively.

here's a few (pompous) piccies of my AV ...
