How do I build a mirror in second life. If you need a script, tell me the script.

The closest you can do is a gimmick, and not a real mirror.

There is a freebie floating around called "Surprising magic mirror", or some such. Looks like a corner dressing table with a rather thick back, and a mirror frame above the table.

When you sit at the included stool, you appear to drop into mouselook, and see yourself in the mirror. You can then do one of a very limited number of animations, like brushing your hair.

What actually happens is that your camera goes to where your eyes should have been if you sat down, but YOU end up *inside* the dressing table stand, seated behind the mirror. The animations force you to do the chosen motions. Everyone else in the room sees you vanish into the 'mirror', and the mirror does not reflect anything else in the room.

For a brief period there was an experimental prim surface property that allowed them to cast reflections. Sort of... But it never worked right. The angle of incidence and reflection was all wrong, and it didn't work if you were close to the surface. They dropped it as an unusable 'feature'.

A nicer variation of those mirrors leaves the avatar in place, and flips the camera around 180 degrees, facing the avatar through the frame. Some add a little extra step: there is an open frame and wall texture hidden inside the mirror, and the camera is moved close enough that you can see that and the avatar through it instead of the solid outer back frame.

From the scripting forum, written by Jesse Barnett.

CODE

default
{
state_entry(){
llSitTarget(<0.3,0.0,0.5>,ZERO_ROTATION);
llSetCameraEyeOffset(<0.3, 0.0, 1.05>);//camera position
llSetCameraAtOffset(<-0.5, 0, 1.05>);//Camera point of focus
}
}

dropt it in a prim, then sit on the prim.
