Quick Maya question :)

I've done *something* and now when I select a vertex one one side of an object, it no longer selects through to the corresponding vertex on the opposite side - this is dragging a selection box, not clicking.

Whilst I'd find this setup really useful at times, right now I'd like it back the way it was! Can anyone suggest where I might find that setting? I don't even know what it's called to google it - I probably hit a random keyboard shortcut whilst typing with my nose late at night or something...

Thanks!

If you're using polygons, then most likely, you turned on backface culling. (Display -> Polygons -> Backface Culling) Note, this is a per-object toggle. Changes will only affect the currently selected object(s), and then only if you're in object mode. If you're in component mode, nothing will happen.

Also, there are options for what gets culled. If you turn on Keep Vertices (Display -> Polygons -> Culling Options -> Keep Vertices), the back-vertices will remain selectable, even though the faces disappear. This can be handy.

Just so you know, there's also a per-viewer backface culling toggle in the Shading menu of each viewer port. This won't have the same effect, though, as it's a shading/rendering option, not an actual functionality change. It won't change what is and isn't selectable.

Thanks very much for the reply!

Turned out there was a camera or an image plane or a pixie or something getting in the way

Fixed now! Thanks for your help!

(I spent two days not getting any work done because of that damn pixie...)
