Hi, thank you for taking the time to read this.
I'm having a rather unusual experience with my prims.
When I place a prim for editing, let's say a box for now. I start to change the values of the box for example x1.000, y0.500 z0.200. The prim randomly changes its shape by itself. It tapers, twists, moves position, twitches from one size to another larger, small, large again. then stops in a completely random state. Other times, I have placed a box and decided to have a cylinder instead. it immediately changes back to a box then cylinder and back. I have closed the editing panel to see if it stops. But, it still changes after I've done that. It has never happened to me in the past and now it won't stop.
Is there some setting that I have overlooked or is this a serious issue?
Honestly, I'm not taking the mickey, it's really happening.
I'm on my knees begging for someone to help. Any advice would be gratefully received.

This happens to me sometimes too. I think it is more to do with network connection, packet loss and SL's asset server bloating issues. I find typing the numbers in the edit window works marginally better than "eyeballing it" or using the in world snap grid.

Thank you for your reply I was starting to wonder if I'd got a virus or someone else was hidding behind a tree editing my work for laughs. I do actually type the value though, cos I'm most inaccurate with my decrepit eyes. This still poses a problem though.

You're welcome! I agree, it is a problem. It's one I have learned to deal with being as I don't actually know what the real cause is. Persistence pays off, keep entering the value and eventually the prim will repond correctly. Sometimes restarting my modem, router and PC helps - which is where I get the assumption that it is network / connection related. Another thing you could try, I go find a quiet SIM and see if it still happens. If it clears up , then it is the SIM you are working in that is having the issues and you might want to try to get it restarted. Sorry I can't give you any definitive answers, like I said, I _assume....sometimes too much : P

I think sometimes it happens coz one moves the mouse wheel (to look around, for example), doing that when the cursor is hovering over certain areas of the edit screen can change the values. It is subtle, not something you would obviously notice.

reminds me of all the nightmares when i am trying to change textures.....especially on more then one prim at a time.....They begins randomly changeing from one texture to the next to the orginal to whatever at like rapid speed.......and if i select one texture and close edit they all go random.....untill the network slows down and connection starts up. When it happens take a break from building, textuering whatever your doing and pray it clears up later. Its easier then trying to deal with the stress of building hrough da lag

Its easier then trying to deal with the stress of building hrough da lag I think this is the form of lag/SL wierdness that drives me maddest. Doesn't happen often, but when it does.... A couple of weeks ago I was texturing a dome built out of about 40 prims. Just running through a set of window textures in varying colours. The random colour change thing kicked in, and when it stopped flashing I don't think there was a single prim that had all it's sides textured the same. Took ages to manually redo each texture, and I kept finding odd faces with plywood on for several days. I've seen the prim resizing/reshaping thing too. Sometimes it has been my fault, careless use of the mouse wheel as Elgyfu says, but other times it's just SL.
