Has anyone ever made a one-prim alphabet before? |

I ask because I want to be able to say that mine is the only one of its kind, but I don't know that for sure. Has anyone done this before?

Those are fancy shaped prims, as opposed to boxes with textures on them? If so, very clever; I haven't seen anything like your alphabet before. I'm not sure how much practical application it has, but I'm sure the ingenuity that went into designing it will

Yeah, there are no textures on any of them. They're all prim shapes.

Wow...well done
I recall a project a long time ago about making interesting shapes with only one prim (hearts etc). There was a gallery where you could see all of these interesting shapes.I have not seen anything since then - nor similar to your amazing letters and numbers. Since you are concerned about being accurate and since SL is constantly changing, it might be safer to say something like 'SL's complete set of 1 prim letters and numbers' -- you'd be accurate in your claim and not upset anyone if you end up not being the first to have done this. |

My bf got me into it when I saw how superior his one-prim office accessories (lamp stand, computer monitor, etc.) were to my multi-linked pap. You're literally there for hours twisting your tori...not realising how quickly time is flying by. Brilliant work Sky...and I'll bet it was a really educational exercise. _____________________

Awesome. You should definitely sell them. I think I will start selling it on slexchange. The only thing I'm not sure about is the letter F, people tell me that it's not very convincing. I will try to find a replacement today I think. Got some ideas for what I might be able to twist into shape. Thanks for the replies, I haven't been able to find anything like this elsewhere so I am going to go ahead and make the claim ![]() |

Impressive! You probably considered using a triangle for V. That V is good but in another context it would be hard to tell from a U. I can understand the trouble with the F -- do you dare use 2 prims for just one letter?
Cheers and good luck! |

Serena Akula made a prim alphabet, but most letters consisted of more than one prim. I think i bought it off slexchange.
I use these letters all the time for signs. Except for prim count, I do not see much advantage in them being single prims. They should have copy and mod permissions. |

It's an addictive art. I thought that "prim torture" was technically when you tamper with the SL protocol to make prims that were otherwise impossible. Impressive! You probably considered using a triangle for V. That V is good but in another context it would be hard to tell from a U. I can understand the trouble with the F -- do you dare use 2 prims for just one letter? I considered using a triangle, but decided it was too wide. The V is something that might need a little work when I get back into SL in January. I think using more than one prim for the F would kind of defeat the purpose ![]() Serena Akula made a prim alphabet, but most letters consisted of more than one prim. They should have copy and mod permissions. There really is no advantage except prim count, I mostly made it as an exercise in what can be possibly made with a single prim. Yeah it's copy/mod. I got an angry IM from a guy last week about another prim collection that I sold, saying "WTF why r they no transfer i thought they were 4 builders" or something along those lines. I'm not sure he realized that you can just copy the parameters to make a duplicate prim that is created/owned by you. Or that it's not generally a good idea to "sell" copy/mod/transfer linksets ![]() |
