turn a sphere into a light bulb and manually entering dimensions?

Hi, I'm new to building objects.

How can I stretch a sphere into a light-bulb shape?

I've tried using a combination of different objects but cant seem to get anything right.

Also, instead of using the stretch/rotate tools, is there a way I can just type in the dimensions I want for a prim? Its really annoying to get 2 different kinds of objects to be exactly the same size on a joining face.

A lightbulb shape would require two prims as I see it... First, make a sphere, and cut it in half so that it's a dome (top part of the bulb).

Next, make a torus, set it to 95% hollow, then play with the advanced cut setting. You'll probably need to rotate it to match the orientation of the sphere, but by this point, you should see how the two will fit together to create a typical lightbulb.

how can I cut a single prim? that's where Im still confused, editing prims beyond just stretching/scaling

if you im me ingame ill walk you thru the basics of building. If you have a mic its and a messenger program then its a whole lot easier to teach you. I just would need you to follow me step for step.

Click the MORE>> button on the edit panel, then click the OBJECT tab. You'll see all the available parameters for the selected prim. On the right side of the params section, normal cuts are at the tope (beging/end), then hollow under those... near the bottom on the torus prims parameters... is the advanced cut (begin/end).
