This is my first creation in SL. What do you think? Am I on the right way to learn building?

My first creation was a lute, so I attached it to myself. I have yet to learn how to make things that are fixed, like that chair. I wou'd say you're doing great!

You're doing great. Your next step (in my opinion) would be to learn about tiled textures, and adjusting the texture offsets and sizes. Best of luck!
