Is it possible to create an item as a container that has another item inside of it that can move around?

For simplicity, let's say you have a hollow sphere. Is it possible to create a smaller solid sphere inside of it so that it can rattle around? It works just fine when you create them separately and they just site there. But if you move the outer sphere, obviosuly, the inner one gets left behind.

Thanks

Yes, its possible, but the object inside needs a script. Note that it would play a bit of havoc with the physics engine (yuk yuk ... the physics engine is called Havoc). You want to avoid having a ton of collisions with the wall of the container.

I don't have the script you need. However, I think there was a thread quite recently about this in the scripting tips forum, even though I can't find it. I would post a question over there if i were you, but title it differently, because the issue really isn't locking. Something like "Moving object inside container?"

Good luck!

While I'm certainly no experert in this area, I do know that Khamon recently had to disable the script and physics of his fruit dropping trees because the collisions causing sim crashes, so this might not be a good idea....

Thanks for the feedback. I'll look into the scripts. Just haven't gotten that far yet in poking around.

Hi Pawl

This might help without shed loads of collisions if you were to tweak it right

http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=LibraryRopeConstraint

Its a script that simulates tieing one prim to another with an elastic band, if you were to have a large ball and a smaller one inside tied together using this script with a quite short range set (less than the larger hollow radius- the smaller radius) then you should get it to work without collisions.

Hope it helps
