Applying a texture to a tapered prim

Hi, I'm trying to make a roof panel and cannot seem to apply the tile texture (or any texture) to it. The panel has been flattened and tapered to fit the roof.

When the texture is applied it looks warped.

Does anyone have a workaround for this.

Thanks

I have had problems texturing tapered prims too. After some experimenting I have decided to turn my prim by 90 degrees and texture the Z-surface instead of the X- or Y-surface. Of course I could not taper the Z-surface, but I used a path cut instead.

There is an option in the texture section which can help with this problem in some way....Its called mapping.....you can set this to either default or planar. If you use this and then mess with the repeats and rotation it should help with some of your problems.

Change the mapping from default to planar, and it will solve your problem. That's what it's for. For more info on planar mapping, see /109/1a/93769/1.html. (Sorry it's a little hard to read since LL turned of bbCode on the forums. Just do your best to ignore the visible code tags and concentrate on the content.)

Alternatively, you could counter-distort your standard-mapped texture in Photoshop, which is what we used to do before planar mapping was available. There's really no need to do that anymore, but if you really want to you could.
