Use of Media Streams in SL businesses?

I just wanted to discuss the possible uses Media streaming within your SL store. Most to all offer a music stream, but if I ever do notice a Movie stream available, its usually television, or music videos. Something of that sort anyway.

I'm not expecting any results, but I thought I'd try streaming a SL built commercial back into the SL store. Make a obvouse media texture to hopefully trigger a few people to press that play button.

So, I guess what I'm looking for, are some comments if it is worth bothering getting a proper clip cut up. Or is the media streams a faded fad, and users ignore on impulse like web-banners?

I keep mine disabled unless I know there's something to watch. And I won't enable it for a media texture that reads, "Enable your media stream to watch a cool commercial!" If you mislead me into watching a commercial with a catchier phrase, I'll have a negative opinion of your business as well. I say that, yet 100% of my RL income is dependent on people watching commercials.

I think it's a really interesting idea. I'm not sure all people would be so adverse to watching a machinima commercial as DoteDote. My feeling is a decent percentage would be curious to see it, and would click Play. I know I would.

If it got to be widespread, then of course it would lose its novelty, so the percentage of watchers would lessen, but that would be a good problem to have.

It seems to be, that if it is done (and it has been) it'll be a forgotten novilety but appreciated by a small few. But thanks for the comments, the answer that I was looking for I guess is. "Not worth additional spending"
