How should we set this up??

Me and a buddy built a Pool & Hottub.. Actually he built the Pool structure & textures, and I built and scripted the Water, Tub Controls & FX..

the Water and Pool cant be linked b/c:
- the water is phantom and the pool is not.
- the water was made by me and the structure made by him

the Water and Tub Controls cant be linked b/c:
- for some reason it kills the scripts for the Water

So my parts consist of (made by me):


Water (phantom)
-- Main Water Prim
---- Scripts
---- Sounds
---- Rezz-able objects (phantom)
-- Child Prims
---- Scripts

Controls & FX
-- Buttons
---- Scripts
-- Jets
---- Scripts

And my buddys parts are:
Pool
--Seats
----Scripts


So how should we set the Perms on all the parts? Scripts included..

also if anyone any suguestions as to the best way we can sell his Pool & my Water and Tub Controls as a complete item and spit profits it would be great..

Trust each other.. one of you owns it all, and sets it out for sale as a vendor or w/e.

Then split the profit 50/50 (Or w/e you want), if you need to check that persons transactions to see what profit came from it, etc

To get one person owning it all and having it placed right as 'one' object, simply have that person buy the original of everything while it's set up - that makes it stay where it is when bought. Then link what can be linked, and select everything, right click, then take.

and while you're at it check on those conflicting scripts, and see what messages they are sending out/recieving, then script checks into the system so they don't conflict anymore... also you can make that lovely phantom water rez from the tub instead of truly being separate....

yeah i was going to set it up so the Tub & Pool (one peice) rezz the water i just had not done it b/c of the He built the pool, I built the Water issue.

can a Group be setup as a business entity to sell items.. basicly makin the 2 parts a group owned item that can be sold?

....yes. But money will go to the group, not the person who made it. You just have to get used to that ^^

The issue you'll have is one has to trust the other regardless, because you need it all as one package for the group to be able to sell it as one item.

For group deeded sales:

Everything transfered to person X should have full permissions, scripts can be no mod, but must be copy/transfer. Person X then puts it all together and sets their own items full permissions, again with scripts at least copy/transfer. Then Person X boxes it up. The permissions on the box are full permissions. Person X deeds it to the group.

Then Person Y opens the box, pulls items out, sets resell permissions, and puts them back in the box. Person Y sets the box for sale (as a group owned object). (Person X can do it if Person Y doesn't want to, I was just splitting up the work load.)

This is because the next owner permissions transfers to the group owned object. If you set your item at mod yes, copy yes, transfer no, the group deeded object can't be sold because it's no transfer.

Sales are noted in the group's L tab, where you both (as owners of the group) will be able to see the transactions. Note that any group liabilities will be subtracted from this amount, if any, on Tuesdays (parcel directory fee). The balance will be split 50/50 between you two, if you have the group permissions set to only owners for the accounting section, and you two are the only group owners.

I would suggest you each keep an alt in the group, as a member not owner, in case something goes poof and one owner can't get in for an extended period of time.
